Kristof and I share a special bond having walked most of the camino de santiago together, for hundreds of kilometers of hiking in northern Spain being alongside one another. He was kind enough to give me his last pain killer on the morning of our last day when we walked close to 60km together to Santiago de Compostella
Staying at his place, smoking shisha, walking round the city, visiting the food market, cooking lecso, getting completely wasted at our favourite bar Haverock, going to the horse races and hungarian festivals, seeing Fradi football matches (thanks Attila!) and his local soccer competition with his mates, meeting his colleagues, and his girlfriend Fanni were great times!!
The pace of partying in budapest actually exceeded that in poland and there were some nights where we seemed to blow our brains out with alcohol and dancing, but always woke up fresh and active to do stuff. It's like when you're having so much fun the need for sleep falls away. Met lots of fun, great people in budapest
Walking by the river the beauty of the city is breathtaking with the citadel, the castle and the church on the buda side, then parliament on the pest side, with iconic bridges connecting the two. Szechenyia baths were a completely new experience (will be having many more saunas in the future!!!). The summer festivals, street markets and good weather all help to give budapest its young, creative and energetic vibe. Also visited pecs in southern Hungary which is not only a beautiful student city but also has a happening nightlife on even a wednesday night!! needless to say, it was a late finish, and a whole lot of fun. Next time in hungary would like to visit sopron and debrecen
