Couchsurfing with Matt Tay for two nights was an awesome experience as a first time couchsurfer. Not only did he provide a place to crash, he also gave me insights into Singapore culture, including compulsory national service and the pragmatic Singaporean attitude
Ubertouristy stuff:
Marina bay sands including sky deck (wasn't allowed into infinity pool), awesome views from the deck in any event
Orchard Rd, crazy shopping, for example:
Tiffany's had a ring going for .5 mill apparently for its lucidity and size, yeah bit outta my league!
Vertu had phones selling for 30-60k, these are low spec dual core processor phones
Mont Blanc selling pens for approx 14k. Interesting how they sell the stuff, story is built into the sales process
The Luis Vuiton shop in Marina Bay not Orchard Rd is an incredible building, they were selling a whiskey box for 40k and guess what? It's inners are made of canvas not leather!
Overall public transport excellent as expected and everything is open 24 hours it seems! Easy to get around, very hip harbour with cool architecture, a very liveable city overall
Now it's time for Chennai and shitty toilets on night rider trains! Fucking bring it on India give me all you got!!!!
