After a long break, it's time for a blog update at long last!!! Well life in Mexico is just grand! Have been here for almost 6 months and finally updating the blog
Here in Mexico things kicked off with a few weeks in Quintana Roo in the east, you can see the post below about that. Then Mexico City for a month, and finally since December in the town of Guanajuato, an old colonial town in Central Mexico, population cerca 100, 000. Fortunately there have been a bunch of parties and I've made some great friends along the way as well as made a dent into Spanish. In Mexico City my best friend has been Oscar and I'll soon add some photos of those times
The bulk of my time in Mexico has been in Guanajuato. A highlight in Guanajuato was visiting the town of Dolores Hidalgo which is a tiny town an hour from here and which carries much significance in Mexican history and culture, with my friends Brianda y Jorge, two absolutely awesome people who embody Mexican warmth and friendliness, getting to party and meet their families as well as explore their town. This has been the highlight of my Mexican experience it was so much fun and eye opening!!!
Ok so the food in Mexico is world famous, and that reputation is well placed... you've heard of tacos, burritos, enchiladas... but Jorge's dad showed me how real Mexican men drink their beers!!! With lime, salt, chili and seafood, haha wow!!!! Also his mum prepared some unbelievable food and his sister Ana showed us around including the grave of the great José Alfredo Jiménez! And Brianda's family were super friendly as well with her sister Grecia teaching me to dance to both mexican music and latino (well I tried anyhow!) Brianda's dad showed me his mexican guitar which he's been playing for almost 40 years, her mum cooked some great food (with chili of course!!) and her younger brother was waiting for his girlfriend to come by... he is twelve years old has already has had 4 girlfriends, haha those mexicanos!!!
I feel so grateful to have shared such fun times with such great people... viva Dolores Hidalgo!!!
